Heptathlon Update in the Bird's Nest

 

Just a quick update as of August 15, Friday, on the heptathlon: Diana Pickler of the U.S. has been listed as a DNS for the high jump, which is the second event. Pickler fell in a heap after finishing her 100m hurdles race with an apparent injury. We have not gotten an update on the nature of that injury but it has apparently forced her from this Olympic competition.

 

In the Heat 3 of the Heptathlon hurdles, Aiga Grabuste of Latvia wins the heat in 13.78 seconds

 

Shotput Mens

 

Big PR in the men's shotput: Tomasz Majewski of Poland just set a new personal-best in the shot put at 21.04m, the best throw in the competition thus far.

 

Several more people have qualified for the final. Among them are Andrei Mikhenvich of Belarus and Christian Cantwell of the U.S., both at 20.48m, and Dylan Armstrong of Canada at 20.43m
