Having been a triple gold winner and a triple world record holder in the recently concluded Olympics, Usain Bolt has already inspired millions of children all over the world. As if this role model figure isn’t enough, Bolt, the iconic face of Beijing Games 2008, had recently visited The Westin Beijing Financial Street where he personally inspired child victims of the Chinese earthquake to make a donation to the Chinese Red Cross Foundation. He even joked and played with these child victims during his visit.

The 22-year old runner brought his whole family as he donated US$50,000 to the Red Cross Society of China out of his personal budget.

In this event, he was quoted to say, “This donation is a gift from me to the children who have been victims of the earthquake in China’s Sichuan Province. Some of these children have been seriously injured and will never be able to experience the joy of running or even dancing. It is a difficult time for them and I just hope I can help bring a smile to their face.”

Later in this humanitarian event, he encouraged the children to join the World Beach Sprint to be held in Negril, Jamaica in 2009. Edmund Bartlett (Tourism Minister) fully supports Bolt’s philanthropic actions and offered to support the children on the visit to the historic World Beach Sprint affair next year.

Minister Bartlett had his share of inspirational speech:   “The triple World Record is an unprecedented act and sets a new world standard which cannot be fazed by negative invection’ from anyone.”

The relay, with Nesta Carter, Michael Frater, Bolt and Asafa Powell, is a bonus round for Jamaica as this humble island of cool and smiling people grabbed so many gold medals at the Olympic Games lead by Bolt. It was also the first-ever clean sweep in the women's 100 metres by the Jamaicans.

Minister Bartlett couldn’t help but add, “I for one couldn’t be happier or prouder of them.”
