Team USA Stars Scheduled to Meet Junior Olympians

A fated meeting between team USA Stars the Junior Olympians is scheduled to take place at the 2007 USATF National Junior Olympic Cross Country Championships, which will be presented by Finish Line, this weekend in Lawrence, Kansas. Dan Lincoln, the American record holder for 3,000m steeple chase distance running, along with national champion, Katie McGregor are the special guests for this fete. They were asked to be on hand to sign autographs, give their own brand of cheers to the runners, and also participate in the commencement awards ceremonies.

The National Junior Olympic Cross Country Championships will accommodate the participation of over 3,000 athletes, and it will be held on the 8th of December at Rim Rock Farm in Lawrence, Kansas.

For Dan Lincoln, third time's the charm as the athlete is both a three-time national champion in the 3,000m steeplechase and a three-time NCAA champion in the same event, though he also won the 2003 NCAA 10,000m title. The list goes on however, as he was also a 12-time All-American champion during his years in the University of Arkansas, and earned plenty of honors in the field of cross country racing. He looks forward to the upcoming event, and shows his excitement for the athletes, saying that he's glad that they now have the opportunities he didn't have at his age. He finds it very good that these young athletes have the chance to compete on national levels and help each other grow. He asserts that this event is the perfect opportunity for the participants to see what the world has to offer them and have fun at the same time

Katie McGregor on the other hand, won the 1998 NCAA cross country title at Rim Rock Farm, where she competed for the University of Michigan. She was the 2005 USA 10,000 m champion, and she had been representing Team USA for countless times. She finds her upcoming return to Rim Rock Farm quite nostalgic, as she recalls how tough the course was, and yet how fun it is to think of the history in said course. She is happy that the participants will see what it's like to run through it, competing against the best athletes of their age in the country. Like Lincoln, McGregor is quite excited to be a part of this event, and cheer for these people not so differently from how their own fans cheered for them.
